Violence and Social strife-2-U

Businesses in Portland, Oregon continue to close or move out of the city due to the ongoing violence in the city since George Floyd was killed. Liberal politicians continue to sit on their hands and refuse to curb the violence. As long as criminals are allowed to walk freely without being held accountable, they will continue to see violence and the people and businesses will continue to move out of the city. Laws are established to keep order and prevent crime. It depends on catching and prosecuting criminals. Criminals will think twice before committing crimes if they know they will be caught and prosecuted. When no attempt is made to catch them or if they are not prosecuted once they are caught, they will be free to commit more crimes and will do so since they don’t have to worry about being punished for their crimes. In addition, children have to be taught to obey authority for if they do not learn it as children, it will be harder for them to learn when they are older. The liberal thought today that you should not punish a child when they disobey leads them to continue to disobey laws and those in authority when they are older. If they are allowed to get away with committing crimes and violence against others when they are young, they will continue it once they are grown. While liberals continue to blame guns for the violence, it isn’t the guns that are throwing bricks and stones, and they aren’t the ones breaking into stores and stealing the inventory. While they cry about all the violence, they have no one to blame but themselves. They are like spoiled children, they do what they want and then cry and lash out at others when they can’t get their way. When confronted, they refuse to accept responsibility and blame other people for their actions. Eleventh Sunday of Pentecost-B

Inner city ministry The church has become so middle class oriented that most church members find the inner-city to be like a foreign country. Churches which grew up in the inner-city when it was a middle class neighborhood, are moving to the suburbs as their members become employed and move out and the neighborhood deteriorates into a slum. The problem is that in doing so, they leave their poorer and older members behind since they can not commute and there is no one left to minister to them. In addition, the church gives up its neighborhood base. Without a building in the inner-city, it is almost impossible to carry on a ministry there without renting a building and your motives will be suspect by residents who see you as an outside group trying to exploit them. The problem could be solved by keeping the inner-city church and building a satellite church in the suburbs. By building partnerships with inner-city churches, the rural and suburban church can help the inner-city church carry on ministry. Usually the members of such churches are poor and elderly. They do not have the money or personnel to carry on ministry. The churches outside the city can supply funds and personnel badly needed while the inner-city church can supply the facilities and the trust of the people, as well as a knowledge of the needs and how to meet those needs. As those from outside the city work in the inner-city, the learn about the need and how to minister to them. That  information is helpful as many of those needs are moving to the suburbs which lacks the trained people to deal with them.

Eleventh Sunday of Pentecost-Aug 14-A

Homeless shelter ministry-Many people think of drunks and drug addicts when they think of homeless shelters but a growing number of families are ending up in shelters when they lose their housing. Life can be boring and never ending when there is very little to do, especially for children. Donations of magazines, books, toys, and personal items are always appreciated. In addition, volunteers are needed to provide activities. Churches with buses could take residents to free activities such as museums and collect money to pay their way to ball games, the zoo, or other activities, enabling them to get out and do things they might not otherwise be able to do. Many men and women could use help finding employment, getting their GED, or simply getting clothes suitable for job interviews. Even such things as haircuts and manicures are helpful.

Marriage-III-C

Liberals in Congress are pushing the “Respect for Marriage Act” that could codify the Supreme Court decision in Obergefell vs Hodges that created the Constitutional right to same-sex marriages in the event that the Supreme Court case is overturned. Neither the Supreme Court or the federal government have the right to regulate marriage. The Constitution says that is the responsibility of the State since it does not assign it to the federal government. It would force a State to recognize a marriage as long as it was legal in the State where it occurred, even though that marriage is illegal in the State. It is very similar to laws enacted by Congress before the Civil War which free States to recognize a slave as the property of its owner as long as slavery was legal in the slave’s home State, even though slavery was illegal in the State the slave resided in. It does not limit the marriage to two partners either, so the federal government would have to recognize in federal law and all States would have recognize in their State laws, whatever definition of marriage any State would adopt. It would overturn the statutes in 34 States that define marriage as between a man and a woman. It would also nullify Constitutional amendments in 24 of those States that define marriage as between a man and a woman. It would create a legal nightmare where conservative States would have to obey the laws of liberal States, even when it violates their constitution. Apparently, they have forgotten who voted them into office and who is paying their salary. It is time for the voters to remind them when they go to the polls in November.

Voter safety-I-IM

Liberals keep hammering on how conservatives are trying to corrupt the election process and steal the election, but it is the liberals who are pressing for the loopholes to allow ballot tampering and fake ballots. If I thought my opponent was trying to steal the election, I certainly would not hand him the tools to do it. I would be fighting to close every loophole as soon as possible to make sure my opponent was not able to steal the election, like conservatives are trying to do. It is interesting that liberals are fighting every attempt to close the loopholes that allow ballot tampering. They are fighting Voter ID, allowing voting by mail, preventing voting stewards from getting close enough to actually be able to spot any ballot tampering, allowing ballot harvesting by unauthorized personnel, not cleaning the voter rolls. They all enable voting by those not eligible to vote, or allow fake ballots to be entered into the system and are being pushed by liberal politicians who claim conservatives are trying to steal the election. Frankly, I would go with the evidence and not with accusations that present no proof.  The people need to guard their ballot system carefully or it could be stolen from them. Voters can no longer rely on politicians and will need to initiate and pass ballot issues requiring voter ID, ban voting by mail, allow voting stewards to actually supervise the ballot counting, and ban ballot harvesting by unauthorized personnel. In addition, they should vote out politicians who refuse to clean up the voting rolls or follow voting rules.

While many promote solar panels as the energy source of the future, there is strong resistance by rural people to having solar fields in their backyards. Opponents say it takes away farmland and is an eyesore that lowers property values, however they are non-polluting and create no noise. They oppose wind turbines because they are an eyesore and kill birds that get too close. There are other solutions but very few are taking advantage of them. There is roofing that produces solar energy and could practically eliminate power outages due to downed power lines,  as well as eliminate electric bills. There are also individual wind turbines which I would think every farm would jump at. They used to have windmills which pumped water and later were converted to generate electricity before power lines reached the rural areas. Anything you generate over what you need, you actually get paid for. While they are cleaner than power plants, they do have drawbacks. Texas found out the hard way when they got a big snow and big freeze. The wind turbines froze up and the solar panels got covered with snow causing a major and prolonged blackout. The goal of going totally natural electric is a pipe dream we may never be able to realize. We need conventional power plants as backup to handle when  turbines and solar panels can’t but it will help our energy crisis. It is interesting to hear the big push for electric cars while pushing to close power plants. We have had several major power outages because our electric grid is barely producing adequate electricity and any problem pushes it over the edge. Where are we going to get the energy to charge all those electric cars?

Tenth Sunday of Pentecost-August 7

Hospital Ministry- Those in the hospital are often not there by choice. Many people hate to go to the hospital when they are sick or injured, though it is sometimes necessary. In unfamiliar circumstances, away from family and friends, and often unable to do many things they normally do. Staff do not have time to stop and chat so days are long and boring. I spent a number of times in the hospital as a child and a couple times as an adult and I don’t like it either. When I was a child, I always looked forward to the “gray ladies” (retired women who volunteered in the hospital and would bring around pop and ice cream in the afternoons and stop to talk) and the “candy strippers” named after the red and white stripped uniforms they wore(teen girls who volunteered in the hospital who brought around books, magazines, games, puzzles, and crafts in the evenings and spent time with us playing games and showing us how to make simple craft items). When I was in the hospital at age 40 for my hip replacement, no gray ladies or candy strippers came around during the week I was there. They tell me they get very few volunteers these days. Many tell me they hate to visit friends or family in the hospital because it is so depressing. If you feel hospitals are depressing, think how the patients feel. In addition, many people work and don’t have a lot of time to visit. Lastly, many people have no friends or family close by who can visit. Days are long when someone is confined to bed all day and although hospitals have TV sets, they get old after awhile.

Sanctity of Life-4-A-X

Many people are crying about what they can do so they don’t have children now that they can’t have abortions in many States. They are trying to come up with all kinds of solutions like go to States where they can get an abortion, or get the medicine to do it secretly by mail. However, a growing number of women are going back to solutions that have worked for centuries. They are refraining from sex which is 100 % effective. If they are married and want a temporary solution, they can use a contraceptive that prevents release of an egg, as opposed to those that kill the embryo once the egg is fertilized.  It is subject to some failure which may cause a change of plans, but since they are married, it will not be tragic. If they aren’t married, they shouldn’t be having sex in the first place.  If they want a permanent solution, due to a medical condition or an aversion to kids, they can always get sterilization. It’s easier and safer for the man, but either one will do.  Innocent children should not have to die so people can have their fun and not have to worry about the consequences.  You will see rates of incest and rape drop as people finally begin to realize they may have to pay for their sins.  Women will refuse to have sex for fear of pregnancy like they once did and men will refrain from sex for fear of having to pay the consequences in jail, in the breakup of their marriage, and/or the payment of child support for 18 years. It will also help to enforce laws that require men who father children out of wedlock to support those children until they are 18. Things will not return to levels before 1973 because too many people have become addicted to having sex without worrying about the consequences. While liberals will claim that it is the fault of those who abolished abortion, it is really the fault of those who engineered Roe vs Wade and promised people that they could enjoy sex without having to worry about the consequences. If all else fails, there is still the possibility of adoption. There are far more couples wanting kids than there are kids available since abortion has caused many women to be unable to conceive or if they conceive, they are unable to carry the babies to full term. Marriage-III-B

The American people support protecting marriage and have repeatedly voted for laws protecting marriage, only to have them overturned by the courts (even though the courts don’t have jurisdiction to overturn voter approved laws). The courts are to interpret laws and rule on the Constitutionality of laws passed by Congress, the Constitution does not give them authority to overturn laws passed by the voters. Our courts have already shown that they will do anything to promote the Gay agenda until we get laws that specifically protect marriage. It is imperative that voters vote for judges and representatives that will uphold the Constitution and respect the rule of law. It is also imperative that we elect representatives in both the national House and the Senate who will defend marriage. We also need to write our Senators and Representatives and urge them to push through laws protecting marriage as a union between one man and one woman.
