We are no longer under the law of the Old Testament because Jesus came to give us new life. He did not abolish the law but gave us gave us His Spirit that through His love, we could fulfill the law. Jesus has fulfilled two of the Jewish celebrations and gave them new meaning. We should celebrate them, not out of obligation but out of gratitude for what He has done for us. Through celebrating them, we celebrate what Jesus did in our lives and are reminded of it. It also gives us the opportunity to teach our children. Too many members in the church have forgotten what Christ did because they no longer celebrate it and their children have no understanding of the faith because the parents do not teach their children what they mean.
