Sanctity of Life-A-4-P

Though abortion may be legal, it still requires the mother’s consent. Pro-abortion advocates do everything possible to convince the mother she has no other choice and abortion is her only alternative, from withholding information on alternatives to convincing young girls not to tell their parents for fear that the parents might convince her not to have an abortion. They seek to defeat laws requiring the woman get information on abortion and possible complications, in spite of the fact that current laws in every State require such information be given in all medical procedures, and an abortion is definitely a medical procedure. You can not make informed consent without knowing the dangers involved. The greatest deception of all is convincing the woman that it is just a blob of tissue and not a baby. If the woman knew it was a baby, it would be a lot harder for her to abort it. Pro-life centers find that 86% of women who see an ultrasound of the baby choose to keep it. While abortion providers do an ultrasound to determine the baby’s age, they don’t allow the mother to see it for fear that she will decide not to have the abortion. Many crisis pregnancy centers now have ultrasound equipment to show the mother the child in her. Few women allow their baby to be aborted once they see it is a perfectly formed and active child.

Sanctity of LIfe-A-4-O

Pro-abortion forces are now openly displaying their lack of respect for life and for the rule of law.  President Biden has directed the federal bureaucracy to do everything possible to get around State laws limiting abortions. He has directed them to explore putting abortion clinics on federal land in States banning abortion so women in those States can access abortions. In addition, he has threatened pharmacies who refuse to give out abortion pills. He has also threatened hospitals and doctors who refuse to perform abortions. He does not allow any exception for their refusal due to conscience, or State laws that outlaw abortions. Therefore, it is very important to elect pro-life State and federal Representatives and Senators who will protect freedom of conscience and repeal any laws which fund abortions in violation of current federal laws which forbid federal funds from being used to fund abortions.. In addition, abortion supporters are stepping up attacks on pro-life churches and pregnancy centers in an open defiance of the laws against destroying other people’s property and President Biden has directed the justice department to investigate pro-life clinics and seek ways to shut them down. They seem to feel that if they can not accomplish something legally, they are free to use any means they want. It is time to start enforcing our laws protecting life and prosecuting those who violate them. If we don’t, we will have anarchy where everyone does as they please.

Eighth Sunday of Pentecost-July 24

Nursing Homes  Nursing homes have changed over the years. They used to be short term where people went to die. Now they are often short term for therapy and then residents return to their homes. Far fewer die in nursing homes these days. There is a great need for workers to minister to those in nursing homes. Many are away from family, friends, and familiar surroundings. Many are no longer able to take care of themselves or do many things they used to do, either temporarily or permanently.  In addition, many of those there are facing death and need to deal with it. Like young people, they are facing a transition and are making decisions that will impact, not only the rest of their life (short as that may be), but where they will spend eternity. Many are open to hearing the hope of the Gospels. Many have lost loved ones who may be Christians but they themselves aren’t. Also, many have no family or friends nearby and have no visitors. They welcome those who come to visit. Many enjoy visits from children (though some don’t so be sure and check first) It’s a good way to teach children to minister to others and children often enjoy it as well. The government has recognized the bonding that children and the elderly develop and has begun pairing nursing homes with Day Care Centers for inter-generational programs.

Gay Rights=2-F

President Biden has bypassed Congress and rewritten Title IX rules to replace the ban on discrimination based on sex with discrimination based on gender identity. It will require schools to allow children to use the restrooms, locker rooms, showers based on their perceived gender, not their sex. There is no word when the regulations will take effect. Gay rights groups have been targeting schools to force them to open restrooms to transgender children. Recently a school in Washington State decided that a boy who thought he was really a girl should be allowed to use the girl’s restrooms. Parents are understandably up in arms. It opens the doors to all kinds of danger. All a boy has to do is declare he feels he is a girl to gain access to the girl’s restroom. With advances in technology enabling people to plant cameras to spy on people, giving boys access to a girl’s restroom opens up more dangers. Recently a college that had opened its locker rooms to transgender students found a camera had been planted in the restroom and was taking pictures of the girls showering. The boys responsible had been posing as transgender and used the opportunity to plant the cameras. While the boys were expelled from school, the pictures had already been posted on the internet for all to see and the girls will have to live with the knowledge that pictures of them undressed are floating around the internet for their friends and potential friends to see. Parents can bring about change. The Stafford Co (VA) School Board decided to allow a cross-gender boy to use the girl’s bathroom, however, irate parents crowded into the School Board’s next meeting to protest and the School Board decided not to allow the boy to use the girl’s bathroom though they did not pass a resolution to prevent the school from allowing it in the future. The issue is not over.

It is sad to see all the publicity about the 10-year-old girl from Ohio that had to go to Indiana to get an abortion. While the rape is a tragedy, it is surprising that someone notified the media before the authorities were notified. Pro-life groups originally thought it was a hoax since no legal authorities had been notified yet. It is being played up by the media to gain sympathy for abortions. It is estimated, because records are doctored, that up to one out of five abortions are done on minors. Most abortionists don’t notify authorities. Minors are usually told not to tell their age because if they do, the abortion clinic is required by law to report it to child protective services and the child’s parents, which they don’t want to do because it might delay or cancel the abortion. With a minor, it is a crime, either rape or incest, since a child cannot give consent. As a minor, her parents may have insurance to cover it, but the parents might cancel the abortion when they find out. It is easier to list her as an adult who has no financial resources of her own, and bill Medicaid. As a result, you and I are paying for it and Medicaid is being defrauded of millions of dollars for abortions that insurance or the parents could cover. The girl is usually given an abortion and returned to whoever brought her in. In cases of incest or in sex trafficking, it is often the person sexually abusing her. No police report is filed, and the rape or incest often continues.  One girl said that she had three pregnancies by her father, before she was 18. Since the baby is aborted and the remains are usually destroyed, there is no evidence, and the rapist is rarely prosecuted.

Sanctity of Life-A-4-V

Liberals are continuing to show that they have no respect for life. Since Roe vs Wade has fallen, liberals are seeking to enact a law in Congress to make abortion a permanent right by declaring that unborn babies are not people and not entitled to protection under the law, just as they passed a law declaring that Black slaves were not people and not entitled to protection under the law. They are also showing they have no respect for law. Such a law would violate the Constitution’s guarantee of the right to life to everyone. Since science now shows us that it is in fact a person from the beginning, it has protection under the Constitution. They are also seeking to overturn State laws that protect life. Those laws are lawfully enacted by the States and the federal government has no right to overturn them, either in the courts or in Congress, as long as they don’t violate the federal or State Constitutions.  For those seeking to know more about the Biblical view of the value of life, see my course on “The Value of Life” on Udemy. Seventh Sunday of Pentecost-B

Public schools also are facing increased pressure to use liberal textbooks and teach false and misleading information to support liberal causes. Many have banned the Bible and moral teaching in favor of sexual license, sexual disorientation, and racially divisive teaching. In addition, many seek to turn kids against their parents to counter moral teaching. Many also allow those who are sexually confused to use the bathroom of their choice, endangering women and girls. An increasing number of parents, both Christian and those with no Christian background are turning to homeschooling and Christian schools to remove their kids from such an environment. Some schools are allowing release time where kids can leave the school property to go to churches nearby for voluntary Bible training. Other schools still allow Christian organizations and churches to have Christian clubs on campus. Churches can start Christian schools and support homeschoolers, as well as supporting Christian clubs on campus to help counter the secular teaching the kids face in class.

Seventh Sunday of Pentecost-A-July 17

College Students-Students, brought up in the church, are often away from home for the first time when they leave for college. The decisions they make will affect the rest of their life. They are bombarded with secular teaching causing them to question what they believe and often do not get any support for their Christian beliefs. Without support from their parents, many drift away from church and their Christian beliefs. It is important for them to connect with a church near campus and a Christian organization on campus to support them in finding adequate answers to support their faith. Parents can research what organizations have branches on campus and what churches are nearby. In addition, parents can notify a church near campus and Christian organizations on campus that their child is on campus so they can attempt to contact their child. You can support Christian organizations on campus and churches that are near a college campus can provide Christian activities for students. Liberals are trying to prevent Christian organizations on many college campuses from using campus facilities and such organizations may soon have to turn to churches near campus for facilities to meet.

Teachers unions say the public schools will be seriously hurt by the loss of money and students if vouchers are given to children to take to the school of their choice, but areas using vouchers have found public schools improve, sometimes dramatically when vouchers are introduced. Our public schools have become lazy and inefficient because they have not had any real competition in the past because private schools are so expensive. When vouchers are introduced, public schools trim fat and improve teaching to avoid losing students. Currently, most parents are forced to send their kids to public schools because they must pay all or most of the tuition themselves to send their kids to private schools, where public school students are supported by taxes spread out over all residents of the school district. In fact, parents who wish to send their kids to private schools must pay the private school’s tuition in addition to paying taxes to support the public schools since they do not get any refund of their school taxes if their kids attend private schools. Shouldn’t all parents have a right to send their kids to the school that is best for them, not just the rich?
