organized teaching-In addition to a firm foundation, members need organized teaching. Often, the preaching and the adult Sunday Schools of many churches are very haphazard with no master plan. Sermons are often chosen week by week or from a series that hits the pastor’s fancy. Adult Sunday School classes are often chosen for each quarter at random. Without a basic foundation of knowledge and without organized instruction, bits and pieces of knowledge are tossed together in a heap. Many adult church members know many things about the faith but have no way to pull it together and do not understand how it applies to their life. The church needs to draw up a blueprint of what its members need to know and teach them in an organized manner. Using the Christian calendar gives structure to teaching and helps the church provide organized teaching. By going through the Christian calendar, it goes through all the major teachings of the church each year. I have a series of courses on Udemy to teach Christian beliefs. It begins with a course on Basic Christian beliefs. Next is a course on the Celebrations and how they help members understand the faith. Next I have courses on the values laid down in the Ten Commandments., including the value of life, the value of the rule of law, and the value of the family. Politics-A-BM
The liberal left is up to their old tactic of lies and misinformation to discredit conservatives. There is a case before the Supreme Court that is not being discussed for an important reason. Liberals want to make a move and are afraid of conservative opposition. A resident of a county run nursing home wasn’t getting the care he deserved so the family sued the nursing home to get him the care. The question is whether they have a right to sue. Federal law allows lawsuits when individual rights are being violated so under the law, the family has a right to sue. The nursing home is contesting it saying the family should not be allowed to sue. The media is saying that since conservatives are opposed to individual rights, as seen in striking down Roe vs Wade, the conservative court could abolish your right to sue the government when your rights are violated. That sounds logical but is all a total lie. Conservatives are fighting for individual rights. They are fighting for the right of the baby to live against those who seek to violate that right. The mother has no right to kill the baby just because she doesn’t want it. There is no such right in either the Bible or the Constitution. Liberals want to do away with the right to life for unborn babies, the elderly, the sick, the critically ill, and those with mental disturbances because they are (In liberal terms) “a burden on society”. Obamacare spelled it out in clear terms. A government panel would be established to determine if care was economically worthwhile. If care was determined to be not economically worthwhile, the care would be denied, and the patient would left to suffer until death released them. To avoid undo economic hardship caused by a lingering death, they are pushing for laws to allow them to terminate the patient. The decision would be final and could not be overruled by the patient or their guardian. We are seeing this play out in Canada and Britain, as well as other European countries who are under liberal governments. We are starting to see this in the United States from a President and Congress who don’t care what the American people want, they are determined to force their will on the people through executive order or legislation. It is liberals who feel that they should decide and the individual has no right to decide for themselves so they will side with the nursing home in striking down the families right to sue. Liberals pose the real threat to individual liberties, not conservatives.
Marriage-I-C
Gays however, realize the importance of marriage and are fighting hard in just about every State to legalize marriage among Gays. Gays are intent on getting the right to marry because that will show that society recognizes the union of two men or two women and therefore it is a legitimate lifestyle. Marriage also has benefits. When society recognizes two people as married, it bestows on them certain benefits. It protects the woman’s rights to Social Security and the right to the couple’s possessions to the survivor in the event one of them dies. Without a legal marriage, the woman has no right to any possessions they hold in common unless he wills them to her which requires probate of his estate and can be very expensive. It also protects her rights if he decides to leave her by granting her child support to help her care for any minor children she has. Unmarried people have no such protection. Gays want those benefits.
Marriage-III-E
Liberals are pushing for an expansion of marriage to include same sex couples while few people are calling to hold the line on the definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman. The majority of people seem to think it doesn’t matter because marriage is no longer important. It does no good to argue that marriage is the ideal state that God seeks for us because most people today do not believe in God or if they believe that He (or it) exists, they don’t feel that He/it really cares about us. Without seeing an advantage in marriage, believers often say it is better to be married but encourage others to abandon their marriage when the going gets tough. If we are to gain a hearing among unbelievers, we must demonstrate that it is better to be married than to be single, and since God made us and knows what is best for us, it is wise to heed His advice. Therefore, I have just posted a course on the importance of Family and Gender on Udemy for those who want a full discussion of it. (see Neighborhood Ministries of NW Ohio website post of 9/7/2022)
Marriage-III-D
Liberals in Congress are trying to push through a bill called “Respect for Marriage Act” that will open marriage to just about anyone who wants it. Contrary to the title, it shows no respect for marriage. Heterosexual people are losing interest in marriage. Almost 50% of families are now headed by single parents. Recent statistics show that the number of divorces is decreasing but it is due more to the fact that fewer people are getting married, than because more marriages are remaining intact. The number of women with children who have never married is also continuing to increase. The growing number of children coming from single parent homes see no need to marry and are more likely not to marry, or if they do marry, they are not prepared to deal with the normal give and take of marriage because they have never seen it worked out and often end up divorced. As a result, the number of single parent families is continuing to increase with no end in sight. Unless God’s people help the world understand the importance of marriage, our society will collapse.

Second Sunday of Kingdomtide-Sept 11
A firm foundation- Catechism. When I began my ministry, it was common for churches to have a concentrated time of study for those coming of age, generally considered about age twelve, to give them a basic foundation of understanding of the church and its beliefs. Few churches today, particularly evangelical churches, have any organized classes for twelve year olds to teach them the basic tenets of the faith. Even children who have been in Sunday School their whole lives need a concentrated time to pull together everything they have been taught. As a result, many children today do not have even a basic foundation of knowledge and cannot build their faith as they grow older. There is also no concentrated study for those coming into the church who did not grow up in church. The result is that few adult church members today have even a basic understanding of the faith. I have developed a basic catechism course of study for new members for that purpose (Understanding the Path We Walk-see “books” on website and Basic Christian Beliefs on Udemy-URL- https://www.udemy.com/course/basic-christian-beliefs/?referralCode=45EA0BA6DAD6F47E7541)
