Para-church organizations–Ministry beyond the church In the beginning, para-church organizations to minister to the community were supported by the churches which provided oversight as well as supplying funds and volunteers. As a result, many church members were able to get training and experience through the programs. However, many churches no longer support the parachurch organizations and the organizations get very little support from individual churches, so they are often forced to draw their support from the community at large. As a result, churches often see them as competitors for money rather than as avenues for ministry and church members are finding few avenues to serve and no training in how to serve. Many para-church organizations can provide volunteer opportunities for members to serve God and often provide needed training. (see “The Important I”-LULU Press) If you are interested in serving Christ beyond the local church check with the local Salvation Army or other church related ministries to see what volunteer opportunities are available in your area.

Parachurch Ministries– Ministry beyond the church In the past, many members learned to minister to others as they ministered to other members and to those who came to the church for help. Today, church members are so scattered they rarely know each other well and few people come to the church seeking help anymore. As a result members get little experience in ministering to others and few church members have the experience to help. Many problems in small churches do not warrant separate programs to deal with them, however many problems formerly associated with the inner-city are moving to the suburbs as the poor move to the suburbs where rent is cheaper, housing is better, and there is less violence. Many suburban and rural areas do not know how to deal with the problems and many problems are too big for individual churches to handle. As a result, many churches today have withdrawn from ministry to those around them so many community needs are not being met. Parachurch organizations have grown up to help, such as Habitat For Humanity, Crisis Pregnancy Centers, etc. to carry on ministries and to meet the unmet needs in the community.

The liberal press is at it again. You can forget unbiased reporting and careful researching of facts, those are things of the past. When President Trump announced the military parade to celebrate the anniversary of the army, they immediately began crying about the tremendous cost and how Trump was acting like a dictator putting on an elaborate military display to impress the people. It turns out that the Army applied for the permit back in the summer of 2024 and Biden approved it. If anyone is responsible for the cost, it is Biden. The fact that it fell on President Trump’s birthday is just a coincidence since no one knew who would be President this year. They also expressed great sympathy afterward (though obviously not sincere) for President Trump because instead of a big display of power it was only a small parade displaying the history of the Army, like they felt President Trump got cheated. However, since Trump did not plan it and it was supposed to display the history of the Army, it was exactly what it was supposed to be. President Trump presided over it since he is commander in chief over the army, something Biden did not learn since he decided to skip several military affairs because he had to play golf. The media doesn’t seem capable of researching their reports, their only goal seems to be to make President Trump look bad. However, to anyone who bothers to check the facts, it only makes the media look bad.
Second Sunday of Pentecost-June 15
Put out into the deep. Jesus challenged Peter to put out into the deep water and cast down their nets. They had been out all night and caught nothing so why should they go out again. Peter was a career fisherman and knew how to fish. He figured that Jesus was a teacher and probably didn’t know a lot about fishing, yet he was willing to trust Jesus and do as He said. As a result, they caught so many fish they had to call for help to haul it all in. The church today feels that unbelievers don’t want to know Jesus, yet many have never heard of Him and are seeking something that doesn’t move in our unstable society. The Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and even satanic societies reach out to them and they join them in search of help, but none offer them what they need. Jesus asks us to put out into the deep and reach people where they live. He said, “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel.” He knows where the people are that need Him and He wants us to go tell them about Him. If Jesus asks us to do something that doesn’t make sense, maybe He just wants to teach us to trust Him.
Violence-Gun Control-I-E
In one shooting in Florida, for instance, the shooter went on a shooting rampage until police arrived. He then ditched the guns and ammunition and blended in with the fleeing students. In spite of the fact that it was one of the largest schools around, there was only one armed security guard in the entire school. Many schools that have been attacked have not had any security guards resulting in needless bloodshed that could have been stopped sooner had there been armed guards on duty. While armed citizens can’t stop all shootings, they can limit the number of deaths by stopping the shooter before he is able to fully carry out his attack. Many shooters come armed with multiple rapid fire weapons and a large quantity of ammunition and if they aren’t stopped quickly, they can cause a large number of injuries and deaths. It normally takes a while for police to assemble a strike force to isolate and take down a shooter and in that time, the shooter can kill or wound a large number of people, unless he is taken down by someone on the scene with a gun. Schools , malls, and churches have been favorite targets because there usually isn’t anyone likely to be carrying a gun to stop them.
Violence-Gun Control-I-D
Usually when an attacker targets a number of people, the media screams for gun control but after two recent attacks, they hardly said a word. The attacks were briefly mentioned and then ignored. The reason was that the attackers did not use guns. One used a knife while the other threw flammable liquid on the people. When a shooting occurs, the media and Democrats rush to call for a ban on guns but they ignore the fact that a number of tragic shootings have been cut short by security guards or citizens with permits to carry guns who risked their life confronting the shooter and were able to take him down and prevent further bloodshed. While the law used to protect homeowners that defended themselves, their families, and their property, the law in many States has been corrupted to punish gunowners who try to stop an attacker and gunowners risk jail time and heavy fines in trying to stop an attacker. While those seeking to ban guns claim it will reduce gun deaths, gun deaths actually increase since the criminals still have guns and don’t have to be afraid that they will be confronted by someone with a gun. As a result, other States have passed laws protecting those who use guns in self defense. The goal is to ban guns in the hands of ordinary citizens so they can not resist a government takeover by those who want to seize control of the government. It was a favorite tactic of Hitler, Stalin, and other dictators.
