The media is in a frenzy about how President Trump is overstepping his authority and interfering with California’s sovereignty and the San Francisco mayor and California governor are screaming about it. However, we need to look at the facts. The governor and mayor were refusing to turn over illegal migrants to immigration authorities in violation of the law. Immigration authorities proceeded to arrest the migrants in accord with the law. The governor and mayor sought to prevent them in violation of the law. Protestors showed up to demonstrate against the arrests. Their “peaceful” protests involved burning cars, looting neighborhood stores, and assaulting immigration officers, however neither the mayor or governor attempted to interfere with the rioters. President Trump sent the national guard to protect the immigration authorities. That is under his authority because the rioters are preventing federal agents from doing their job, it’s called, obstruction of justice. Neither the mayor or the governor were protecting their citizens so President Trump had to step in to protect American citizens. The riots were too well organized and the rioters too well equipped to be spontaneous. We now know that the rioters were funded by organizations supported by the Democratic party which explains why the governor and mayor did not interfere. Over half of the rioters were from out of State which means they crossed State lines to commit a crime making it a federal offense. President Trump was well within his rights and was fulfilling his responsibilities. Contrast that to a few years ago when President Biden sent federal agents to intervene in State affairs. President Biden was not protecting the border which was a violation of his oath of office to defend the country against invasion. He was also violating federal law by not building the border wall as required by an act of Congress. Texas and Arizona were forced to build barriers to protect their citizens which is their responsibility in light of the fact the federal government failed to do so. President Biden then sent in immigration agents to tear down the walls. While President Trump had the authority to protect the American people, President Biden did not have the authority to use federal agents to prevent the governors from protecting their citizens. The media said nothing about President Biden’s abuse of power but have been relentless in misrepresenting President Trump’s legitimate exercise of his authority.
