Liberals are claiming that the Supreme Court has violated the separation of church and State by ruling that Maine can provide services that do not include religious instruction (meals, transportation, etc.) to religious schools. It is not supporting religion since the services do not include religious teaching. In addition, since the parents are paying public school taxes and the services are provided by the school district to non-religious schools, to deny religious schools the funds, is discriminating against religious schools because of their religious base. In addition, since the schools are in areas not served by public schools, no public schools will be hurt by it and the children would be denied access to schooling if the religious schools were not able to serve them.

Immigration-VI-O

We are now seeing an end to the “Stay in Mexico” policy of President Trump. Immigrants seeking to enter the United States will no longer have to stay in Mexico while awaiting approval to enter the U.S. This was a disaster under President Obama and will be a disaster under President Biden. Immigrants who come to the U.S. and apply for admittance will be turned loose in the U.S. and told to come back to court for their hearing. The vast majority disappear as soon as they are released into the U.S. and never show up for their hearing.  The Administration is continually publicly telling people not to come to the U.S., but they oppose any attempt to close the border so migrants can simply walk in and make themselves at home.  It is all political rhetoric. They tell them that America is the land of opportunity and expect that people in poor countries will ignore that and stay home. Who do they think they are fooling? They want them to come to increase their political support. President Biden strongly condemned the human trafficers who left 53 people to die in the desert locked in the back of a semi. Their encouragement of people to come and their insistence on open boarders is the direct cause of those deaths. It is an expensive and dangerous journey to travel from a South American country to the U.S. and many people hire trafficers to help them with transportation and protection. Many trafficers could care less about the people as long as they get paid. If border patrol agents start closing in on them, they will often abandon the truck and escape. They often leave the people locked in the back of the truck and the people soon die of hunger, thirst, or the great desert heat, whichever gets them first. Many trafficers will deliver the migrants to slavers who force them to work in underground factories or in sex dens rather than release them in the U.S. so they get paid by the migrants to transport them and also collect additional money selling them to the slavers. Trafficers have been seen on border cameras dropping kids off on the U.S. side and retreating back across the border to Mexico, leaving the kids to fend for themselves in the desert. Hopefully the border patrol is monitoring the camera and will reach them soon.

Sixth Sunday of Pentecost-B

Ministry To Travelers-Many Christians like to get away and go camping on weekends to relax with the family but often don’t know the churches in nearby towns and don’t know if the churches will welcome strangers. In addition, those driving big motor homes don’t want to leave their lot to drive the motor home around town looking for a church and don’t have a second vehicle to drive. They welcome churches that provide worship services at the campground or provide transportation to nearby churches. Many people traveling stop at motels but do not know their way around town. They may look up churches in the phone book but not know the times of services or how to get to the addresses listed. Calling the numbers listed in the phone book often doesn’t help since few churches offices are staffed on weekends. Local ministerial groups can arrange with motels to leave notebooks in the rooms listing nearby churches listing times of services and maps to assist guests in finding them.

Trailer park/apartment complex ministry-When I was first starting out, I was asked to help a Presbyterian Church that was dying. After I got the church back on its feet and it felt it could call a full time pastor, my wife and I bought a small trailer and moved into a nearby trailer park while we sought the Lord for direction. Several in the park knew I was a pastor and asked me to start a Bible study. We started visiting those who lived in the park and within three months, we had three small house churches started. Many residents have no friends or family nearby and are seeking fellowship but there is nothing for them. Families living in the park or complex can start small groups in their home by getting to know their neighbors and inviting them to join them. Children in such parks and complexes often have little to do and eagerly attend outside Bible Stories. However, residents and managers are often very suspicious of groups outside the park who come in and try to get residents to come to their church so it helps to have someone living in the complex. Such parks and complexes now often have community rooms available for residents to meet in when the group outgrows an apartment or trailer or when residents want to hold activities for children or families.

The Courts-C-B

30 Jun

Some liberals are promoting the appointment of several more liberal Supreme Justices to enable the Court to restore the right to abortion and allow them to open the door to other liberal policies which they want to enact but can not get the support in Congress to pass them into law. While the Constitution does not state how many justices there should be, it does say the justices should be appointed for life so no President can pack the Court and ram through his agenda. Most presidents only get the opportunity to appoint one or two justices, not enough to change the court unless it is closely balanced like it is now. To add a number of justices to the court solely for the purpose of ramming their agenda through the courts is an open violation of the intent of the Constitution, even though it is not stated. It is a deliberate attempt to get around the Constitution. In addition, the current liberal justices have openly ignored the Constitution in their rulings and it is fairly certain any new liberal justices would do the same. While they claim they are just using a liberal interpretation of the Constitution, their opinions, like in Roe vs  Wade, openly ignore the Constitution. Roe vs Wade was pushed through when two conservative justices were not able to attend and the ruling did not represent a majority of justices on the court.

the Courts-C-A

Liberals are saying it is unconstitutional to overturn Roe vs Wade. On what grounds? Nowhere in the Constitution does it declare the right of women to get a abortion. The Supreme Court also has a history of changing its decisions when new evidence is available or circumstances change. Roe vs Wade was unconstitutional to begin with. The Constitution states that all men are endowed by God with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The pursuit to happiness does not give someone the right to deprive another of the right to life and the Constitution states that the government, including the Supreme Court, can not deny anyone those rights. Its excuse was that they could not determine when life began. That is faulty thinking because if they were in doubt, they should have erred on the side of caution, lest someone deprive someone of life and violate the Constitution by mistake. The Supreme Court stated that if it was ever determined when life began, that the ruling would be null and void. A majority of States at that time had defined an unborn baby as a person with rights and so according to the Supreme Court ruling, the Supreme Court decision was null and void in those States. However, the pro-abortion people used the Supreme Court ruling as an excuse to violate those laws and claim exemption from prosecution. They said the Supreme Court ruling overturned those laws, but the Supreme Court does not have the authority to overturn lawfully enacted State laws unless they violate the Constitution, which they did not. In addition, the pro-abortion people used Roe vs Wade to nullify all laws related to protecting the mother in an abortion, which the Supreme Court decision did not cover. The mother is recognized as a person and  does not lose her rights when she becomes pregnant. In addition, the pro-abortion people have now extended the right to kill the baby up to 28 days after it is born and is lawfully considered a person which not only violates Roe vs Wade, it violates the Constitution.

Para-church organizationsMinistry beyond the church In the beginning, para-church organizations to minister to the community were supported by the churches which provided oversight as well as supplying funds and volunteers. As a result, many church members were able to get training and experience through the programs. However, many churches no longer support the parachurch organizations and the organizations get very little support from individual churches, so they are often forced to draw their support from the community at large. As a result, churches often see them as competitors for money rather than as avenues for ministry and church members are finding few avenues to serve and no training in how to serve. Many para-church organizations can provide volunteer opportunities for members to serve God and often provide needed training. (see “The Important I”-LULU  Press) If you are interested in serving Christ beyond the local church check with the local Salvation Army or other church related ministries to see what volunteer opportunities are available in your area.
