Government not only controls our actions, it also influences our values. Government, along with the media and the schools, shapes our values. The laws dictate what is legal and illegal, but to many that translates into what is right and what is wrong. However, just because something is legal doesn’t mean it is right. When I was in college, I did surveys for Sociology class. I found many people held Christian values even though they had never attended church because those values were taught in the schools and the media, and were reinforced by our laws. Now, many Christians hold liberal values because those values are taught in our schools and our media, and they are reinforced by our laws, however, Christian values are not taught in many churches. In fact, many liberal churches now teach liberal values. Bible-believing churches seem to think that it is wrong to get involved in politics, yet if they don’t, liberal groups will take over the government and society. Our founding fathers envisioned a nation guided by a Bible-believing population that elected politicians that held Christian values to act on their behalf. Our nation has fallen a long way from that.
