Schools-D-AK

The Ohio legislature has introduced legislation (the Backpack Bill-House bill 290) that will allow parents to send their children to the school of their choice. Parents would no longer have to support the public schools and still pay full price for their child’s education if they do not agree with the way the local schools are being run. It is time we returned decisions to the parents. Our public schools were built on the idea that the voters of a community would determine the policies and curriculum of their local school through their school board, however some school boards seem to think they know better than parents what should be taught and ignore the wishes of the parents. Many even go so far as to hide what their children are being taught from parents. In addition, liberal federal policies are imposed on local schools and schools are threatened with loss of federal funds if they don’t comply. Voters need to decide if they want to remain in a free country or let the government impose its will on them.
