The liberals continue to push the idea that abortion is necessary because of the threat of overpopulation. In 1973, they used the exodus from the cities to the suburbs to push the idea of pending overpopulation in spite of the fact that childbirth was at an all-time low. It was barely above replacement level in spite of the fact that people are living longer. The flow from the cities out to the suburbs was caused by prosperity following WW II. Now they are pushing it as industrialized nations are being overrun by refugees caused by war in their native country, leaving many cities with no inhabitants. While it appears, there are a lot more people, many nations face a crisis because there are not enough babies born to sustain them. Without immigrants coming in, their population would be declining. Abortion would not have solved overpopulation if it really was a problem. When abortion was legalized, the birthrate exploded because women who wanted to have sex but were afraid of getting pregnant, no longer had to worry because abortion would solve the problem, but when they got pregnant many decided not to have an abortion resulting in a sharp rise in the birthrate.
