Energy policies are also not being implemented wisely in managing our power grid. Old power plants using coal and gas are being pulled offline faster than new solar and wind production is being built to replace them. That is straining our already overburdened systems. In addition, electric cars have to be charged and the demand to switch to electric vehicles being pushed by President Biden will put a huge strain on our electric grid. In addition, many of our power distribution lines were constructed a long time ago and are in great need of being updated. Power lines have been responsible for a number wildfires lately when powerlines became overheated or stretched to the point they touched ground or other obstructions. In addition, power generated and transported for long distances loses power resulting in the need to generate additional energy to make up for losses. Wind and solar energy can be helpful in supplementing the power grid, but cannot be relied on as the sole source. Many homes and businesses can get their own wind and solar generators to cut down on their electric bills. Solar panel and wind turbines can often be mounted on roofs where they don’t take up valuable land. In addition, it saves the need for transmitting power over long distances and will ease the strain on our power grid. Many generators produce more than the household or business needs and the excess power can be sold back to the power company to supplement their own power. However, power companies are often penalizing homes and businesses by underpaying them for electricity they supply and overcharging them when they need additional electricity to discourage them from switching because it costs them revenue.

President Biden continues to push for more reliance on renewable energy with no concern for how it is done. We are facing an increasing energy crisis with existing energy use and our electric grid is being pushed to the limits. We are using an increasing amount of electricity. Homes that once used electricity for lighting now have radios, TVs, electric appliances in the kitchen, electronic equipment in the den, and a host of other electric gadgets. Many homes were not built for such use and it is straining their electric wiring. However, nationwide, we are seeing even bigger problems. A few years ago, America was hit with a series of rolling blackouts as our usage exceeded the capacity of power companies to supply power. Energy suppliers were able to overcome the problems by increasing electric generation and distribution systems but we are again facing the possibility of rolling blackouts. When wind and solar power are more environmentally friendly, they aren’t reliable. Clouds occasionally hamper solar collectors and the lack of wind occasionally hampers wind turbines. Texas experienced massive blackouts when cold weather froze wind turbines and snow covered solar collectors. They aren’t alone. Northern States are finding that electric vehicles don’t work well in cold weather.

My wife and I took a trip to Van Wert, Oh a couple years ago, and were surprised to see rows and rows of wind turbines. There looked like there were over 100 that we could see. They stretched for miles north of town and as far west as we could see. We also saw a solar energy field. They apparently had the foresight to plan ahead for cheap energy. Van Wert isn’t a big city and is mostly rural area so the turbines probably supply most of their energy needs. The turbines were probably purchased with subsidies from the government, so they didn’t pay full price for them and the money they save not having to buy energy from outside will pay for the turbines in the future. When the turbines are paid off, they will have cheap energy and most everyone else will still be paying high prices for energy. In addition, the subsidies can not last long with the way our government is spending money so they were smart to take advantage of them while they are available. Many areas are fighting solar and wind fields because they think they will be an eye sore. In addition, they take up far more land than traditional power stations. Some fields cover hundreds of acres.
Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday– Color is White symbolizing the purity of Christ and the new believer, washed in the blood of Christ. Easter was an important time for baptism in the early church because it celebrates the death and resurrection of Christ and reenacts the new believer’s death and resurrection in Christ. It is a new beginning, washed in the blood of Christ, but it is not the end. That new life does not come full blown and complete. We must begin to grow into what Christ wants for us, just as a child grows to maturity.
Good Friday
Good Friday/Black Friday-A Good Friday (also called Black Friday) celebrates Jesus’ death on the cross that bought our redemption. The color is Black symbolizing mourning. Many people wonder how Jesus could be in the tomb for three days if He was crucified on Friday and rose on Sunday morning. Actually the Jewish day begins at sundown so Jesus ate supper with His disciples on Thursday evening (after sundown on our Wednesday) and was crucified on the following morning (still Thursday). He was buried on Thursday before sundown and spent from late Thursday afternoon to early Sunday morning in the grave. Since our day runs from midnight to midnight, we celebrate Maundy Thursday and the crucifixion a day late.

President Biden is at it again. He just forgave the student debts of more young people, in spite of the fact that the Supreme Court ruled that he did not have the authority to do so. He continues to work hard to drum up votes for his failing administration. Young voters are particularly vulnerable to bribery. Anyone would be a fool to vote against someone who just forgave you of a couple hundred thousand dollars in debt.. President Biden is not really forgiving the debt, he is merely transferring the debt to the American taxpayers. You and I are paying for encouraging young people to vote for President Biden. The administration has been consistently handing out “free” money and other benefits to various groups to get them to vote for him and then claim that Republicans are against them because they oppose such giveaways. In addition, Democrats have been very vocal in claiming that Republicans are planning on canceling Social Security and welfare benefits to get those people to vote for him. Social programs once designed to help people in need are being used to influence the election and it is being paid for by all of us, even those who do not support him. While they had to pull back on welfare because it was becoming multigenerational as children growing up realized they didn’t have to work but could stay home and collect welfare, other programs continue to discourage working. The free flow of money during the Covid crisis has resulted in millions of people who refuse to work because it would interrupt their benefits. While student debts are becoming a serious problem, simply paying them off is not the solution. My wife and I paid off our college debts as did millions of other students. My wife and I both had to interrupt our schooling mid-way and pay off the accumulated debt before going back and finishing, but we did it because we felt it was worth it to get better jobs. When I taught college, I found many students who were on welfare scholarships often put in very little effort while expecting to get credit for the course. We often value things more if we have to work for them than if we just get them for free, but many kids today are growing up with the feeling that the world owes them a living.

Informed voting Those who put God first in their life generally support the value of life, marriage, free enterprise, and other God-ordained values. They are generally open to the opinions of their constituents. Those who do not put God first, generally value those things that will benefit them, like money and power. Liberal politics makes for strange bedfellows. You have politicians who support Abortion, Gay privileges, socialism, and a host of other liberal causes because those causes contribute to their campaign chest, even though their constituents may oppose those issues. It doesn’t matter that they are supposed to be serving those that vote for them, they just lie about what they support and many voters do not bother to check their record. That is becoming commonplace. As a result, we see liberal politicians voting for causes that the vast number of voters oppose. They often attack their opponent to distract voters from the issues or make false accusations that cannot be decided in court until after the election to turn voters against their opponent. Their opponent has no chance to prove their innocence because it is decided in the court of public opinion and liberal media censor any attempt of their opponent to defend themselves. That is why it is so important in voting to check the record of those on the ballot and not be swayed by what they say or by accusations they make against their opponents which are broadcast by the liberal media. There are organizations like Right to Life and Planned Parenthood who publish the voting records of the candidates. Though they are on opposite sides of the issue, their information can help you decide who to vote for. There are also other organizations that publish the stand of the candidates on other issues. While it takes some time to research them, it is well worth it in getting candidates that will care out the wishes of the majority rather then just those that contribute to their campaign.

Reports indicate that an increasing number of people are driving without insurance. Michigan is one of the leaders with over one out of every four drivers driving without insurance. There may be a number of reasons for that, however I think Michigan has no-fault insurance which may be a big contributor. No-fault insurance is designed to solve the problem of increasing insurance costs by eliminating costly battles over responsibility for accidents by having each insurance company cover losses for their customer. The problem is that many are driving cars that are not worth covering. If it is destroyed, it is no great loss so they normally get coverage to cover any damage they may do to others and leave their car uninsured to save money. With no-fault insurance, they aren’t responsible for damage done to others so they simply don’t get insurance. That works as long as they stay in their home State. If someone from Michigan comes into Ohio and causes an accident, they have no insurance to cover the damages they cause. In addition, if someone from Ohio goes to Michigan and gets hit by an uninsured driver, there is no insurance company to collect from. The person they hit cannot collect for damages without going to court and filing a civil suit against the driver at fault. If the driver at fault has no assets to seize, the injured driver has no way to collect compensation for damages. Some insurance companies allow you to take out insurance to cover you in case you are hit by an uninsured driver, but you must bear that cost yourself. While no-fault insurance is designed to cut out large insurance settlements, which helps insurance companies avoid large payouts, it hurts the drivers who have to bear the cost when hit by someone who isn’t insured. It is one of those liberal solutions which puts a simple solution to a problem of increasing insurance costs, while ignoring the other problems it causes. It doesn’t solve the problem, it just shifts the cost to innocent people. It is time that such States either reinstate regular insurance or check to make sure drivers have insurance and enact large jail sentences for those caught driving without insurance to deter drivers from driving without insurance. Here in Ohio you have to declare that you have insurance before being allowed to get a driver’s license or license plates. While people can lie or drop their insurance once they get them, it prevents a lot of people from driving without insurance. If your State doesn’t require that, you should contact your legislators and demand they make it the law.
