One of the original arguments for legalizing abortion was that it would reduce the number of back-alley abortions which often caused the death of the mother because they were usually performed by unlicensed doctors under often unsterile conditions. Many portray legal abortions as safe and simple procedures, yet abortions can have serious consequences. While abortion providers try to hide the fact the women die from abortions, it is widely documented. In addition, many women are sent to the hospital, some with life-threatening conditions following an abortion. Although the law requires all medical facilities to be licensed and inspected, abortion clinics claim they are not medical clinics and so not covered by the law. They usually fight attempts to license and inspect them. As a result, conditions in some clinics have been found to be unsanitary and dirty. They haven’t abolished back alley abortions, they just  dressed them up and made them respectable. Although laws in some States require that abortion clinics have admittance privileges at nearby hospitals, many clinics  do not and in fact fight any attempt to require admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. When States try to enforce the law, many clinics close rather than comply. When the Supreme Court said they could not determine when the baby became a person and so the courts could not enforce laws which restricted abortion, they totally ignored laws to protect the women as well. The  woman carrying the baby is definitely a person and the courts should enforce laws designed to protect the mother, but they aren’t.

Men today are getting vasectomies in protest over the overturning of Roe vs Wade. If they had done that in the first place, there would have been no reason for Roe vs Wade. Roe vs Wade was pushed because people want to have their fun and not suffer the consequences, but everything has consequences. The time comes in everything when you have to face up to it, you can’t keep running. Roe vs Wade opened up a flood of people having sex outside marriage. It also opened up a flood of rape and incest as people thought they could have fun and not pay the price. Unfortunately, the girls are having to pay the price. They are being pressured to have sex or it is forced on them and then they are abandoned as soon as they get pregnant.  Our country literally threw its sisters and daughters to the lions and we are paying the price. They tell you once the baby is aborted, the problem is solved. Their problem, unwanted babies, is solved and they are richer, but the women or girls often continue to suffer physically and emotionally and those who push abortion don’t want to be bothered.

Britain is showing a perfect example of why we  do not want socialized medicine. The baby that has been in the news was in serious condition. A government panel decided that the treatment would be too expensive to warrant doing it. They ordered the hospital to pull the plug on the baby and let it die. The parents appealed to them not to do it and got a court to hear it but the court agreed with the doctors. A hospital in Italy agreed to accept the baby and treat it but the court in Britain refused to allow the baby to be released so it could be flown to Italy for treatment. It all boils down to cost. The government, not the parents, decided and based their decision on the fact that they did not feel it was worth the cost, not on the fact that it was a child that could be saved with treatment. In addition, they would not allow it to be transferred to a hospital willing to treat it. Those are classic elements in socialized medicine. The government decides, the decision is based on cost, and they do not allow it to be taken out of the country where it can receive treatment. This has happened a number of times in Britain and other countries with socialized medicine where they have refused treatment and refused to allow them to be transferred to somewhere willing to treat them, but most are not publicized. It would not be so bad  if they allowed them to be transferred somewhere else to be treated, even at the person’s own expense but that would open the door to people bypassing their control over the system and in the end, it is about control. Canada  at least allows people to leave the country to be treated at the patient’s own expense

Christ The King Sunday-A

16 Nov

While Thanksgiving is not a universal Christian holiday, it is a good opportunity to remind ourselves and teach our kids about the Second Coming. Christ the King Sunday follows the final Sunday of Kingdomtide. While the third and final holiday, which God commanded the Jews to observe occurs in late September or early October on our calendar, our harvest season is later and occurs in November. As a result, we celebrate it in connection with our harvest as Christ the King Day, the celebration of the Second coming of Christ. It is celebrated the last Sunday before Advent and so usually occurs the Sunday before Thanksgiving, though it occasionally occurs the Sunday after due to a distortion in the Roman calendar.  Most Christians no longer celebrate it and take little thought of Christ’s return. The Bible states that the trumpet will sound, and true believers will be caught up in the air with Christ. Since we don’t know when Christ will come again, it is important for us to be ready, or we will be left behind. Non-believers however, will remain on earth and go through the days of tribulation where they will have a final chance to repent. At the end of the days of tribulation, the final harvest will be complete, and God will close the books forever. (See “Before Your Eyes” in “Understanding the Path We Walk” or “Celebrations” on Udemy for more on the holidays) It would normally occur next week this year, but I am including it here because it should properly be celebrated before Thanksgiving.

Violence and Social Strife-2-AB

The New York governor has allocated funds to built up the State police and encouraged the FBI to increase their presence on social media to combat hate speech. That sounds like a worthy goal. However, the truth is in the definition of hate speech. They consider hate speech to be anything that goes against their policies. They ignore their own attacks against parents who peacefully question their school’s policies, while ignoring their school text books that label  white people as oppressors and Black people as victims, fueling racial hatred. They arrest peaceful pro-life people who pray for those going to abortion centers and ignore the violent attacks on pro-life churches and pregnancy centers. They praise Hamas for its violent and senseless attack on Israel and condemn Israel for defending itself. They arrest peaceful pro-Israel demonstrators and ignore the pro-Palestinian demonstrators that violently attack them. Yet, the people of New York not only tolerate them but keep reelecting them. Is the media so corrupt that the people are unaware of what is going on or are the elections so corrupt that the elections are meaningless and the New York mob still appoints the people for public office? Is New York a glimpse of what our nation will be like if they prevail on the national level?

Violence and Social Strife-2-AA

Liberals like to blame everyone but themselves for the violence. They are the ones setting up the policies that break down the family that teaches respect for authority, They are the ones taking the Bible out of our schools and the Ten Commandments out of our courts. They are the ones that ignore the law if it prevents them from doing what they want, and pressure parents not to discipline their children. They play up police shootings and break down respect for law, and call for attacking those that disagree with them. They push abortion, assisted suicide, and mercy killing, breaking down respect for life, and are the ones that publicize the shootings giving people that feel ignored the attention they seek. They refuse to admit they are causing the problem and feel that all they have to do is take away people’s guns and it will all go away. They seem to feel that without guns, everyone will be happy and love each other, and respect the law. They live in a dream world where they feel they are entitled to whatever they want and become frustrated when everybody doesn’t just step aside and give it to them. They become angry with anyone who stands in their way. Such teaching fuels anger and frustration which leads to violence. Jesus calls us to love each other. If we all love each other, there will be a lot fewer shootings, stabbings, beatings, and overall violence.

Voting=I-AU

15 Nov

Democrats have long pushed for ballot drop boxes and mail-in voting to make it easier for voters to vote. Recent arrests in the use of Ballot Drop Boxes to stuff the ballot box show how vulnerable they are to abuse.  The boxes are not attended and no process is available to verify that the ballots were filled out by a registered voter. Video  cameras caught two top Democratic party officials making repeated trips to the boxes and depositing ballots in a Democratic primary. Mail-in ballots also cannot be adequately verified. Some States require the voter’s signature on the outside as well as the inside so the signatures can be compared to ensure the ballot wasn’t removed and replaced but that is no guarantee since both signitures could be forged and replacing the envelope as well as the ballot or as in Georgia, removing the ballots from the envelope and throwing them away so the signatures could not be compared. While many people focus on the national elections, the primaries are the place where the party’s candidate for the national election is chosen. Since the primaries are presided over by party officials, they are the easiest to subvert. The party can ensure their preferred candidate is elected in the primary through manipulating ballots in the primary. By manipulating elections in cities and States where Democrats are strong, they can staff the city and State governments with people who will support the party leadership and prevent investigations into election . In swing States, they can use their times in power to manipulate elections to guarantee that the Republicans can no longer win. While the electoral college guarantees that a candidate for President must have support of voters in a vast number of States, Democrat efforts to abolish the electoral college would allow them to win with the support of the voters in only a few highly populous States. Democrats and Republicans both need to support common sense protections for voting to ensure that their vote is safe.

Preparing For Christmas

13 Nov

Children are beginning to think about Christmas as stores are ramping up their Christmas advertising. Yet Christmas is more than getting presents. It is a celebration of when God gave us the greatest gift of all.  Advent is a time when we begin to prepare our hearts for celebrating when Christ came to save us and begins on December 3rd this year. I have an Advent booklet available to help parents teach their children about Christmas. It has a short Scripture for each day of Advent which helps to remind us of what Christmas is about and includes pictures that go with the daily Scriptures that the kids can color, cut out, and glue to construction paper. It provides a time the family can get together and learn from God’s Word and hopefully will become a regular family practice all year round. The pictures can be hung on the Christmas tree or on cords strung around the room. It is an electronic file that I would be glad to E-mail to you free and can be printed off. E-mail me at neighborhoodministriesnwoh@gmail.com and use heading “Advent booklet”.

Sermon-Render To Caesar

Eleventh Sunday of Kingdomtide-Nov, 12

10 Nov

Dwell in Unity-God wants us to not only love Him, but to love those He created as well As others see the love we have for each other, they will want that love and want to know the God who is the source of that love. Many churches today have a hard time attracting members because unbelievers do not see that love in the church. Many churches are more a collection of strangers than a family of brothers and sisters in Christ. Members can not care for each other if they don’t know each other’s needs. God also calls us to love others in the body of believers, regardless of the church they belong to, so that others might see how good it is to live as God wants us to. The multitude of denominations presents a picture of widespread division and the refusal of churches of different traditions to work together indicates there is little of the love the church claims to possess. The Church claims that Jesus is the way but does not appear to agree on what that way is. How can unbelievers take the church’s message seriously?
