Second Sunday of Advent Dec 7

05 Dec

Joy Luke 2:10 “And the Angel said unto them, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”- The Jewish people were straining under the burden of Roman rule because they had turned their backs on God and ignored His Law. They found no joy in the Roman occupation. It seemed that God had abandoned them for there had not been a prophet in Israel in 150 years. Suddenly an angel appeared and announced that she had a pronouncement that would bring joy to everyone, not just the Jews. The Jews did not realize it, but the Messiah was coming, and He would deliver mankind not from Roman rule but from the power of sin and death itself. That is something to celebrate.

Democrats are engaged in a propaganda war to win elections because they cannot win them through the votes of those who support their policies because the majority of Americans do not support their liberal policies. They don’t want to debate the issues because they know their policies aren’t popular.  Instead, they make all kinds of frivolous charges against their opponents just before an election to turn their supporters against them and have been fairly successful at times but not at others. Once the elections are over, they suddenly go silent and do not pursue the charges because they had no basis in fact, but by then they have served their purpose because the damage has already been done. They have been celebrating the victories of two governors and the mayor of New York as evidence that the Republicans are losing support, however if you look at the facts, it is easy to understand how they won. Democrats have controlled those States and New York City for a long time. New York City especially has a long history of political corruption. They have liberal election policies allowing a wide range of election fraud. They also have liberal welfare policies and strong union control that makes large numbers of people dependent on the government. They manipulate them to vote for them by telling them the Republicans will cut their benefits.  In addition, those who track interstate migration report that thousands of people and many companies are leaving those States because of high taxes and business regulations, and poor economies, as well as liberal policies on abortion, Gay rights, and transgender confusion being taught in the schools, so those remaining are going to be predominantly Democrats.

First Sunday of Advent-Nov 30

26 Nov

John 3:16 -For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not parish, but have everlasting life. The first Sunday of Advent is the first day of the Christian calendar and if you take it seriously, could be the first day of your eternal life. It begins a journey in which Christ calls us to follow Him and if we are faithful and follow will take us from where we are to the cross and from the cross to the grave and from the grave to heaven. When the world was drowning in sin, God loved us enough that He sent Jesus to open the way for us to receive eternal life. Advent should be a time when we prepare for the journey we will travel in the upcoming year. Please join me on the journey.

Advent

26 Nov

As we prepare to celebrate Christ’s coming, we should search ourselves to see if we are worthy of His coming. Christmas comes at the time of the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah in which the Jews celebrated the cleansing of the temple after it had been plundered and defiled by the Syrians. They had to cleanse the temple before they could worship there again. Our lives have been polluted and defiled by the things of this world and we need to seek Christ and ask Him to cleanse the pollution out of our lives so that our lives may show the love of God and be a light to those who do not know Christ. Christmas reminds us that Christ has come to redeem the World. Once a believer recognizes Christ as their Savior, they begin their journey to becoming a disciple. Advent begins the Christian calendar and should begin the church’s teaching that should lead them on that  journey.  Follow me through the seasons as we cover the major teachings of the church.

Why We Celebrate

26 Nov

Christ the King Sunday Nov 23-B

21 Nov

) God has ordained that one day He will come to earth again to take his followers home and then He will hold a marriage supper to celebrate His marriage to His bride (the Church) Though many argue whether Christ will return before the tribulation, during the tribulation, or after the tribulation, God in ordaining Rosh Hosanna and Yom Kippor has spelled out the sequence of the last days. (The coming of Christ followed by the time of tribulation, and finally the final judgment and the end of the age when Christ ushers in the new heaven and the new earth and rules for 1000 years, followed by the marriage supper in heaven-See “Before Your Eyes”) Since God fulfilled the Passover and Pentecost exactly as He ordained them, I have no doubt that He will do the same with Rosh Hosanna. This is the last Sunday of the Christian calendar and celebrates what will one day be the last day of the human race as we know it, when Christ ushers in the new heaven and the new earth which Christ shall rule and from which Satan and all who follow him will be forever banished.

Christ the King Sunday Nov 23-A

21 Nov
(A) While the third and final holiday which God commanded the Jews to observe, Rosh Hosanna, occurs in
September on our calendar, it is connected with the harvest season and our harvest season is later and occurs in
November. As a result, it is better celebrated in connection with our harvest. Since the establishing of the
Christian calendar, Christians have celebrated Christ the King Day, the celebration of the Second coming of
Christ, on the last Sunday of the Christian calendar, the Sunday before Advent begins the new cycle. It usually
occurs the Sunday before Thanksgiving, though it occasionally occurs the Sunday after. Christians no longer
celebrate Christ the King Day and take little thought of Christ’s return. True believers will be caught up in the
air with Christ on the first day, while non-believers will go through the tribulation where they will have a final
chance to repent. Since we don’t know when Christ will come again, it is important for us to be ready. According
to God’s Word, the final harvest will be complete at the end of the days of Tribulation, and God will close the
books forever and we will celebrate the marriage Supper of the Lamb with God in heaven. (See “Before Your
Eyes” for more on the holidays)
