Lawmakers passed the Social Security Fairness Act just before Christmas 2025 while people aren’t noticing. This allows government union workers and their spouses to enjoy two full pensions if they worked at non-government jobs along with government jobs and earned enough credits. Formerly their Social Security was reduced by what they received in their government pension. It only benefits a small number of Seniors but will greatly increase the burden on the Social Security fund with no funding to cover the increased costs. The vast number of Seniors will receive no benefit and will face reduced Social Security earlier due to Social Security running low on funds sooner. It shows that the Democrats have total disregard for Seniors when it offers government workers facing retirement a huge windfall to buy union votes in upcoming elections. Democrats have always worked to benefit unions but have seen dropping support from police unions as they demonize police and from manufacturing unions as they push the switch from gas powered to electric vehicles which require less workers to manufacture and push importing manufactured goods from China and oil from the Mid-East which costs American jobs.
First Sunday of Pentecost-May 24
Finding the Resources-Many churches tell me they don’t have the resources to do outreach. My wife and I once belonged to a house church with only six families. One day I was called to a railroad bridge where I spent an hour convincing a teenage girl that she didn’t really want to jump. I later related the story to the church. They were very concerned about the high suicide rate in the county and that galvanized them to act. They contacted an organization called Contact USA which helped them plan and organize the needed organization. They began contacting other churches and in 12 months were able to recruit and train 129 volunteer phone workers and secure enough local funds to pay the cost of office rent, utilities, and the phone bill. The phone bill alone was over $1500.oo a month for feeder lines allowing someone to call from anywhere in the county toll-free. They went on the phones just a year after I sat on the bridge with the girl and continued to serve that community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for almost 50 years with no government help. Can you imagine what the average church could do if they had a half dozen couples that were that committed to a ministry.

Open borders run the risk of allowing in people who may want to hurt America. Many pay from $1000-5000 to get to the United States. Many bring in drugs and illegal guns to pay their way. Large numbers of Samolians have been allowed in and have set up fraudulent businesses to funnel taxpayer money to the terrorist organizations back in Samolia. In addition, large numbers of Muslims have been allowed in who are setting up terrorist cells within the United States that could carry out attacks like they did on 9-11. Many of them congregate in areas like in Minnesota and Detroit, Mich. Where they drive out non Muslims and impose Sharia law in open violation of America’s laws, allowing widespread rape and child marriage.

Liberals plead for mercy for the poor illegal immigrants but letting people freely cross the border without registering hurts them as well as us. While they come seeking prosperity, they are not truly free as they are here illegally and can not move about freely for fear of being caught and deported. They can be arrested if stopped for a traffic violation or minor crime. They can’t get good paying jobs, are subject to blackmail to avoid being turned in, and cannot access many public services. Many are tricked into becoming slave workers and sex workers in exchange for transportation. They cannot apply for citizenship because they would have to verify residency in a foreign country which they cannot do. They hurt America because they take jobs from legal citizens, feel more free to commit crimes in sanctuary cities because they do not have to fear arrest, and cost their State and local governments for the Social services they use but do not contribute toward the cost of them. They are better in some ways but worse in others. It is a dead end they would not face if they came legally.

Immigration continues to be an important issue. The issue has become very emotionally charged but little is being done to consider the facts. We need to deal with the issue with wisdom and reason, not through emotionally charged rhetoric because it has serious ramifications not only for our country but for the immigrants themselves. The Liberals support it because it provides lost cost labor and results in widespread support for the Democrat party that lets them in and provides them with a wide variety of benefits like food, housing, protection from federal agents. In return, the illegal immigrants increase the Census count in Democrat controlled States, allowing Democrats to get additional seats in the House of Representatives, get additional federal dollars that are distributed based on population, and they vote for Democrat candidates, even though they are not legally allowed to vote. While we should care for the stranger that is within our gates, allowing them to come in illegally hurts them as well as us.
Ascension Sunday -May 17
Sunday before Pentecost- Focus on mission-Ascension Sunday reminds us of Christ’s ascent to heaven and is the prelude to Pentecost when the church should be launching its summer evangelistic efforts. Before it starts, the church should be clear on it’s mission. After Jesus rose from the dead and showed Himself to His disciples, He appeared to them in Galilee-Matt. 28: 16-20 He gathered them and told them to go and make disciples of all nations, and to teach them all that He commanded them. During Pentecost, we concentrate on winning the lost. We are to seek the lost and lead them to the Lord. Once they receive Christ, we are to baptize them, symbolically illustrating their death and resurrection in Christ. During Kingdomtide we will focus on making disciples when we seek to teach them to do all that Christ has commanded us. That involves active training, not the passive attendance which is common in many churches today. Now is a good time to finalize plans for a summer campaign to reach those who do not know Christ. Every church board should open every meeting during Pentecost with the question “What can we do to win souls?”.
M-F Relations
– Liberals are pushing for including women in the draft. They say women should have equal rights. The draft is no voluntary, There is nothing stopping women from joining the military if they choose. Many women have served in the armed forces, some with distinction. That is their choice. It is attractive now because it provides college scholarships which enable women to get college educations and career training. It is however, very hard on women with children to leave them behind while they are stationed overseas. It is hard enough with the husband stationed overseas and the wife left at home. Many women serve in support roles far from the fighting and contribute important support for men in the field. Many also help with medical units close to the fighting but not actually in it. While women have served in combat in the Air Force, where they can come home to segregated housing, it is a different matter with ground combat. An army in the field cannot provide segregated housing for men and women under combat conditions. In addition, women are forced to face men in combat who are bigger and stronger than they are and who will show them no mercy. If they are captured, they face rape and torture from their guards. We are seeing this with the treatment of civilian women in Afghanistan and other places where women are not valued. The increasing number of women in combat has caused rape and sexual harassment to skyrocket. Command officers, who are usually men, often turn a blind eye to reports of rape and sexual harassment leaving women unprotected. As a result, women should not be forced into the armed services, and especially into combat roles.

The family is under attack today. While the number of divorces is declining, it is only because fewer people are getting married. Society is seeking to undermine the ability of parents to raise mature adults but not replacing it with anything. As a result, many kids grow up with no sense of direction. The result is increased violence, broken families, and no respect for authority. This course deals with how parents are needed to help children develop mature lives and the threats our families face.
