Democrats blocked a bill called “Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act”, that would end legalized infanticide. A number of States have legalized killing a baby up to 28 days after birth, by using perinatal instead of prenatal in the law. Perinatal includes the period up to a month after birth. It passed the House but Democrats blocked a vote in Senate. While liberal politicians pushed through Roe vs Wade on the grounds that we could not tell if the baby was a person or not, they have continued to push the limits. They have fought attempts to limit abortions to before it has a heartbeat and brainwaves at only a couple weeks old. They have pushed abortion up to and including at birth through a partial birth abortion where the baby is reversed and delivered feet first. When all but the head is out, they puncture the skull and remove the brain so the baby is born dead. While it is definitely known that the baby is a person at birth, they turn a blind eye. However, some babies did not die in the abortion and were born alive. They would smother it and throw it in a trash can or leave it out to starve to death. All the time, they have covered up their acts to avoid a public outcry. Over time the American people have become accustomed to the killing. Recently they have been able to legalize killing it in some States. The Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act would require doctors to fight to save babies born alive.

Family Support-Single mothers are more likely than married couples to be cut off from their family. While moving in search of jobs often takes couples away from their families, the families often keep in touch and help each other in time of need but single mothers often come from dysfunctional families that are separated by more than distance. Many grew up in families torn apart by strife and even when they live near their family, there is often little contact and less support. Many were unable to develop trust growing up and are isolated from those around them because of their inability to trust others. Many desperately need to feel wanted and that someone cares about them. Many men use that need to prey upon them, but the Church can show them that God cares about them through ministering to them. Many have no one to whom they can vent their frustration and may become frustrated with the kid’s constant demands, causing them to lash out at the kids. Those women often need temporary relief from the stress of child-care. The church can provide play dates where the mothers get together, and they can visit with the other mothers while they watch the kids together. Older Christian women can initiate friendships where they can get together with young mothers living near them when they put the kids down for their naps. The older women in the church can take young mothers in the church under their wing and minister to them, providing encouragement and comfort, as well as someone safe the mother can vent to.

My wife and I saw this first hand when I broke my hip. We sent the bills to the insurance company for the company I worked for and they returned them saying the company forgot to add me to their medical insurance plan so they paid nothing. We had $10,000 in medical bills. We made agreements with everyone to pay them off in installments. After two years, we had paid off everyone except the surgeon and the hospital. Suddenly, we got a notice that the surgeon’s bill had been taken over by a collection agency and was due in full within two days or it would be sent to court. We consulted a lawyer who told us that we didn’t need a lawyer, all we had to do was show the court we had paid as agreed and the court would throw out the case. However, it never went to court, the judge just signed off on a court order requiring us to pay the money, plus court costs. A court worker later told us the collection agency never came to court, the judge just signs off on the cases and they collect the money plus court costs. We consulted a lawyer who said they couldn’t do that legally and we could appeal it but it wouldn’t help because we would still owe the money plus we would have to pay even more court costs. We signed an agreement with the court to pay it off but after my wife and I deposited our paychecks in the bank, and we wrote checks to cover our bills, the checks started bouncing. The court had seized our paychecks as soon as they hit the bank without notifying us. We consulted another lawyer who told us he could not help us. He could tell us what the court could do legally but the court saw no reason to obey the law so any advice he gave us would not do us any good. Formerly a judge would be disbarred and sent to prison for such actions, but now it is accepted as normal. However, one day those judges will stand before God who will hold them accountable.

Liberals have also attacked the rule of Law. It is an old saying that he who makes the law can change the law. With man, if someone makes the law, they can change it when they want. They can ignore it when it effects their friends and use it to harass or punish those they don’t like. We are seeing this openly today where judges ignore the law and rule however they want. If you don’t want a baby, you just declare it’s not a person and is not protected by the law. Then you can kill it and not worry about being prosecuted. However, when God makes the law, no man can change it. David thought he could do what he wanted but Samuel confronted him and reminded him that he was not above the law. The law applies to the king as well as the pauper. A French visitor to the United States once remarked how strange it was to see a car sitting at a stop light waiting for it to change when there were no police or other cars around. Americans respected the law. Now they take their cue from the politicians who ignore the law whenever it suits their purpose. We see it on the highway where people ignore speed limit signs and even stop signs.

Lack of Social Interaction Many single mothers are under tremendous pressure with no one to help them. They are often working and trying to keep house as well. Many are constantly tied down with the kids and have no one to watch the kids while they shop or attend other activities. Providing child care during church programs can free such women to relax and enjoy the activities and may enable them to attend where they might not otherwise be able to. With many families having no more than one or two children, children are often isolated. Child care will also provide opportunity for children to interact with other children in informal activity. Older Christian women can watch the kids for short periods or two mothers can take turns watching both sets of kids while the other one shops or just has some quiet time. Women’s activities at church with child care also helps. Many mothers of young children, especially single mothers and wives whose husbands work long hours or are away a lot, are isolated taking care of their children, especially if they don’t work and yearn for an adult to talk to.

The Single Parent The sad fact is that there are more adults who are single in America today than those who are married. Many of those are single parents with young children. While being a single parent is widely accepted in our society today, it is not easy because it lacks the basic necessities for bringing up children. With a married couple, the man can work and the wife can take care of the kids. Our society has been infused with greed so many wives now work to provide the luxuries of life. As a result, our society now has adjusted to the new-found wealth when both parents to work, so two incomes has become a necessity, not just a luxury. That often forces women to work, even when they don’t want to. With single mothers, if the father remains nearby, the parents often fight over and often in the presence of the children. In addition, the majority of the children of single mothers lack a stable father and if the woman has a boyfriend, he often provides a very poor example of being a father and often doesn’t stay very long. Many of the problems of our society today stem directly from the lack of stable marriages in many homes. If these children are to grow up and establish stable families, they need Christian couples to work with them so both boys and girls, as well as their parent, can see a stable marriage relationship and how men and women should relate to each other.

Liberals say they care about the girl while Christians respond that God opposes killing. The liberals sound like heroes and since many Christians care about the girl, they easily fall for their lies. Christians sound like heartless legalists. However, the facts tell a different story. Abortionists do nothing to help the women beyond abortion and during abortions, they violate every law designed to protect women from those requiring informed consent to those requirements for a clean and sterile surgical environment. In addition, abortions are done rapidly without proper caution and many women are injured or killed in botched abortions. Pro-life people counsel the women on alternatives and help them keep the baby or give it up for adoption and continue helping her after the baby is born, whatever her decision.

The Value of Life-A-The first major attack was on the value of life. The value of life was deeply embedded in our culture so no politician would risk his career supporting it, so they pushed it through the Supreme Court since the judges were appointed for life and not elected so they didn’t have to worry about reelection. Since they did not have a majority of judges supporting it, they took advantage of the temporary absence of two conservative judges. The Supreme Court could not make it legal but could put it outside the court’s jurisdiction, allowing it to grow without the court’s interference. Since the baby was not seen, it was easy to claim it wasn’t really a baby yet so it was not protected by the Constitution. They pushed abortion as the caring thing to do. Caring people were sympathetic to the poor girl’s problem and since nobody mentioned the baby, it was easy to forget that a baby died in the process. However the real problem wasn’t unwanted babies. The real problem was the value of a life. It implied that our happiness came first, and the life of the baby wasn’t important. However, the church did not openly oppose it and over the 45 years it has been allowed, there has been a gradual acceptance of the idea that our happiness comes before anything else. The second idea it pushed was that you can have your fun and not have to worry about any consequences. If you get pregnant, just abort it. Those two ideas were the very same ones that Satan used to persuade Eve. Take the fruit, it will make you wise, and don’t worry, you won’t die.
