It is easier to sell abortion because the baby is not seen and many believe it is just a lump of tissue and do not consider it murder. However, abortion is only the tip of the iceberg. The philosophy behind it carries wider implications. It was spelled out in Planned Parenthood vs Casey (1992). It stated that the woman has the right to kill the baby right up to birth if it would interfere with her happiness. Once you declare that, it just becomes a matter of determining who is interfering with your happiness and how to dispose of them. Several States have legalized assisted suicide and California has just legalized killing a baby up to 28  days after birth. Minnesota has repealed its law protecting babies born after botched abortions and other States are considering laws allowing the killing of children after birth. Canada and Europe are way ahead of us because they have long since abandoned Christian values and allow assisted suicide and termination of the extremely sick and the critically ill, often without their knowledge or consent. The doctor can make the determination on his own. Once you accept a woman’s right to kill her unborn baby, one becomes increasingly less bothered by other killing. As time passes, it becomes increasingly easier to rationalize the killing of your boss, your coworkers, your fellow students, or even members of a crowd at the park or a concert, if you feel they are interfering with your happiness.
