Neighborhood Ministries

Mission Statement When I was called to serve my first church, it was rapidly declining because the factories had closed, and people were moving out. It was rapidly becoming a slum and the church with its emphasis on ritual did not appeal to the lower-class people. The church’s response was to withdraw within itself and isolate itself from the community. It was obvious that they needed to find out what it meant to follow Christ and then reach out to the community to save the lost. Once the church got its priorities in order, the church began to prosper. The church today is facing an increasingly hostile environment. I have found that many churches in many denominations today are also withdrawing within themselves and isolating themselves from the community around them. Though Christ faced increasing attacks, He never isolated Himself but boldly continued to preach the Gospel and the church needs to follow His example. Neighborhood Ministries of NW Ohio grew out of the increasing demand of church members to find what it truly means to follow Christ. In the following weeks, I will be spelling out the mission statement for the Neighborhood Ministries of NW Ohio.
