Ohio has been issuing vouchers to parents whose schools have been receiving failing grades. Last Fall, Ohio expanded the voucher program to include a lot more kids. However, there is currently legislation pending that will roll back the number vouchers issued. Public schools have fought the voucher program because it would force them to improve their schools in order to compete with private schools or lose many of their students. As long as they have held a monopoly on public funded education, they have not been under any pressure to improve their schools. As a result, the United States pays more than any country per child for education, but ranks way down in the quality of education. Clearly, parents are not getting their money’s worth. Public education was established to give everyone a good education, but they are increasingly failing due to liberal agendas being pushed on students.
