Many churches don’t use social media or use it very poorly. Many churches do not have websites and many churches have websites and don’t know it. For instance, Yellow Pages will set up websites for churches, often without their knowledge when they purchase a yellow page listing. Usually it only contains name, address, and phone number, but the church can add information to it. The website will remain, even if the church changes its name or moves, unless the church has it removed. It provides a good opportunity for a church to redirect visitors to its website if it changes its name. If a church changes its name from Salem United Methodist to Salem Community Church, it may put a link on the Yellow Pages website connecting the visitor to its regular website. Someone looking for a Methodist Church would be directed to the Salem United Methodist website which would have a link to their church’s Salem Community Church website.
